How the Calculator Works

The Citation Gap Calculator uses a signal-based scoring model built from patterns observed across thousands of AIS Index scans. Each content signal (statistics page, comparison content, Wikipedia presence, etc.) corresponds to a known citation gap type that LLMs consistently identify when evaluating brand content libraries.

The gap count estimate reflects how many of the most common citation gap types are likely present based on your content signals. The score range is calibrated to the observed distribution of AIS scores for brands with similar content profiles. The improvement estimate reflects the observed score delta when brands fill their identified gaps.

These are estimates. The actual citation gaps for your specific domain depend on your content, your category, and how each LLM currently models your brand — which is why a real scan produces more precise, actionable output than any calculator can.
